Abbott Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Academy
Abbott is currently accepting applications from 2021 graduating seniors who are interested in applying for the EMT Academy, starting June 4, 2021, at Abbott EMS.
About The EMT Academy
- Classes are Monday-Friday for five weeks, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
- Students will earn $10.30 while attending class.
- After the National Registry examination and acquiring their state licensure, they will earn the EMT starting rate of $13.94 per hour, as well as 401k, health benefits, and vacation time.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age by July 24, 2021. (If they have a birthday after July 24, 2021, there will be classes available in the Fall and Winter.)
- Candidates must have a GED or High School Diploma.

BCI Skills Center
People with disabilities can accomplish amazing things—and careers are no exception. That is why BCI established the Skills Center, a first-of-its-kind vocational training facility for people with disabilities in St. Charles, St. Louis, and surrounding counties.
Upon graduation from the Skills Center, students move directly into the competitive workforce where they work alongside non-disabled individuals, earning the same opportunities, responsibilities, benefits, and pay.
Located in St. Peters, Missouri, the Skills Center is a 501c3 nonprofit offering tuition-based training. Student tuition expenses are typically covered entirely or in large part by scholarships and supplemental state agency support.

CyberUp Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program
CyberUp’s LevelUp course trains candidates in foundational IT concepts and in-depth cybersecurity best practices. The combination of technical, soft, and critical thinking skills’ training prepares participants for the rigor of an in-demand cybersecurity role. CyberUp connects ambitious job seekers with opportunities to jobs in cybersecurity through a unique apprenticeship model. There are three tracks for candidates:
- Pre-apprenticeship program for those in need of further development of their workforce readiness skills,
- Level 1 course for those with some career experience,
- Level 2 course for those already possesing some IT job experience or training

Easter Seals Midwest Project Search
Project SEARCH is an internationally-recognized skills training program dedicated to helping young adults with disabilities obtain jobs with community businesses. Over nine months, program participants will develop important work skills within a community business. Young adults will learn through classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on internships. Project SEARCH supports and prepares these young adults for successful community employment.

Health Professions Opportunities Grant (HPOG)
Free training for entry-level positions in nursing, pharmacy, emergency medicine, and other healthcare professions. The Health Profession Opportunities Grant (HPOG) apprenticeship program is designed specifically to help low-income individuals in St. Louis City and County, including but not limited to TANF/Missouri Work Assistance recipients, receive training for healthcare occupations. A total of 159 eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in this training program each year. For those selected, SLATE will provide funding for tuition, on-the-job training, books and supplies, as well as supportive services, such as child care and transportation. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate; the process is by computer selection and is completely random. Paraquad Culinary Training Program
This program prepares adults with disabilities for a career in hospitality. In the 15-week training program, taught by a certified culinary instructor, students learn: sanitation and food safety, knife skills, cooking and baking, and customer service.
After the training program, Paraquad helps graduates find jobs. Students may complete a paid internship prior to job placement to build additional job skills.
